據路透社倫敦10月20日報道，英國首相莉茲·特拉斯當天宣布，她將辭去首相一職。她的經濟計劃在其上任僅六周後就給市場帶來沖擊，並導致保守黨內部分裂。
報道稱，接替特拉斯的保守黨領袖選舉將於下周完成。特拉斯是英國歷史上任期最短的首相。
報道稱，特拉斯在唐寧街10號外發表講話時承認，她無法兌現競選保守黨領袖時作出的承諾，失去了保守黨的信任。
特拉斯說：「鑒於目前的形勢，我無法履行保守黨選舉我時的職責。因此，我已經通知國王陛下，我將辭去保守黨領袖的職務。」
